Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Scott Kirton

Dr. Scott Kirton

General Practitioner, Male

Scott Kirton was raised in Dapto, NSW. He grew up almost within view (and definitely within smell) of Lake Illawarra, and spent an idyllic childhood sailing and cycling the countryside. He got badly sunburnt every summer on the beautiful beaches of Wollongong.
Scott moved north to Brisbane with his family in 1984 where he attended Aspley State High, and the University of Queensland where he met his wife Lisa. They have two children, Hamish and Matilda, and two puppies.
Scott joined GRMS in 1996 and gradually came to realise that Ipswich is far better than Brisbane, so he moved here.

Dr. Evie Rank

Dr. Evie Rank

General Practitioner, Female

Evelyn Rank prefers to be called Dr Evie, as she is called Evelyn only when she is in trouble.

She graduated from University of Queensland in 2011, and trained mainly in Ipswich Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital.

She really enjoys people, loves food and is secretly a little bit of a geek. Her boys drag her out running, which she does reluctantly only so that she can have that little bit more chocolate after dinner.

Her favourite patients (if she is really honest) are those with multiple chronic medical conditions, the elderly and youth who don’t quite fit the box.

Evie spent 3 years at Ipswich Hospital back in 2012 and is thrilled to be back in the area.

Dr. Tu Huynh

Dr. Tu Huynh

General Practitioner, Male

My name is Tu (t-oo) Huynh (Hwən).

I was born in Vietnam, and came with my parents to Australia as refugees in 1979. I have lived in Brisbane most of my life. Went to Brisbane State High School and graduated from UQ in 1998 with my MBBS and spent 4 years at Ipswich General Hospital. I had experience in Emergency medicine, ICU, and Ophthalmology (eyes) apart from the normal rotations in hospital, before deciding on General Practice.

I have an interest in paediatrics (kids), eye problems, men’s health and skin checks, and perform minor procedures like removing skin cancers. I have started the Ipswich Travel Clinic to provide travel advice and health needs (vaccines, travel kits, yellow fever certificates) for those travelling overseas..

I have a lovely supportive wife and two kids who are growing up fast. I have been at Grange Road now for a few years and hope that we can continue to provide excellent service to the community with our collective knowledge and experience in our doctors.

General Practitioner, Female

I’m a UK trained GP with a special interest in women’s health, particularly menopause care, and in helping people manage chronic conditions in ways that fit naturally into their everyday lives. I believe in a holistic approach to medicine, seeing the whole person rather than just the condition and I’m committed to excellence and patient safety in every aspect of my practice.

Originally from Nepal, I grew up moving from country to country as part of a British Army family. After completing my medical degree in the UK, I discovered that what I loved most was building meaningful connections with my patients so becoming a GP felt like a natural fit. I’m now thrilled to be practicing in Australia and getting to know the local community.

Outside of work, I love travelling and exploring new foods. I do have a weakness for chocolate and cake, but I balance it out with a good run (you might spot me out there doing just that!). My greatest joy, though, comes from spending time with my energetic 5years old, who keeps me grounded and always laughing.

Areas of interest:

  • Women’s health
  • Chronic disease management
  • Menopausal Care

Having made the leap to Medicine, and as our newest GP Registrar, he is keenly interested in improving the management of chronic health conditions through sharing knowledge and empowering patients to better understand and manage their own health. Dr. Amanda Illingworth

Dr. Amanda Illingworth

General Practitioner, Female

I have been in Australia for over 30 years and a Grange Road doctor since 1991 (does that make me a local yet?).

I was born in South Africa and grew up in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia), which was exciting and adventurous.

My husband and I emigrated to Australia looking for a better future for our family – and found it in Ipswich.

General Practice has been the most rewarding and exciting career for me. I am passionate about maintaining excellence in primary health care and so I am involved in local medical politics and medical education to do my ‘bit’ to continually improve local health care.

I have 2 awesome grown-up off-spring who are true Aussies.

I love to de-stress with making artworks and playing classical guitar.

Since then I have completed rotations as a junior doctor in several hospitals around Brisbane including QEII, Mater Mothers and Logan Hospital.

I have additional experience in Paediatric Emergency, and have spent time in Neonatology and Womens Health.

My areas of interest are womens and children’s health. I am hoping to undertake additional training in skin health & dermatology once I have finished my General Practice training.

In my spare time I enjoy gardening , cooking , and spending time with my family . I have three children that keep me very busy.

I love the continuity of relationships in General Practice, and the ability to care for whole families. It is a rewarding and humbling area of medicine !
